Blush and cream master bedroom with a cane four-poster bed against floral chinoiserie wallpaper

Room story 01

The blush master bedroom

One patterned wall, three quiet ones, and a lot of small warm lights. Here is where every single thing in this room came from.

The big decisions

These five set the whole room. Most are made to order, so what you need is the source rather than a link to add to cart.

  • Chinoiserie wallpaper

The whole room is built around it — painted-style florals with birds, on a soft blush ground. One wall only; the other three stay plain.

  • Wall and ceiling paint

    Wall and ceiling paint

Morning Glory on the plain walls, Jharokha on the ceiling. Both soft enough that the wallpaper stays the loudest thing in the room.

  • The furniture, custom made

    The furniture, custom made

Bed, TV unit, side tables, dressing ledge and wardrobe were all made to order together, which is why the ivory finish matches across the room.

  • Sheer linen curtains

Full height, pinch pleat, with a cream border along the bottom. Fabric bought by the metre and stitched to size.

  • Herringbone flooring

Warm oak tone laid in herringbone. Sourced locally from Kirti Nagar, Delhi — ask for Aman on 8700943862.

One

The bedside

Everything here is small, warm and switch-on-able. The lamp is the only thing I’d call essential — the rest is layering.

  • 2

  • 3

The faceted jar is worth keeping after it burns down

Two

The dresser corner

A floating ledge instead of a dressing table. It keeps the floor clear and makes the corner feel twice its size.

Three

The reading corner

The only seat in the room, so it earns its spot. The board above it changes every few months.

Four

The walls

Wallpaper, plates, framed photos, a shelf and a few decals. None of them compete, because only one wall is actually patterned.

    Gold photo frames

  • 35
    Bird wall decals

One sits above the pinboard, so the plain wall isn’t completely bare

  • 36
    Poppy floral decals

Scattered across the wardrobe shutters to break up all that ivory

Five

The balcony

It is the first thing you see from the bed, so it gets treated as part of the room rather than as storage. A swing, one long trough on a stand, and a small pot that came back inside.
